Turkey, Day 9

July 14 (Day 8 at the camp)
By Ivan Pustovalov

I woke up, washed my face, and felt better. Today I even planned to swim in the sea, but in the end I limited myself to a walk. While I was sitting in the shade at a café along the path to the sea, everyone had already gathered and was heading back. I panicked and rushed to look for my forgotten T-shirt, but then I noticed that the guys were waiting for me, and my T-shirt was in Elena’s hands (Phew!). Later, when I was sitting on my bed, Elena opened the door and said: “Quick, come to morning exercises!” I objected, as I didn’t see the point.

In the afternoon, we had to prepare for a performance where we were supposed to tell jokes. Our parents helped us. The loudest applause and support came from our new friends — the 6th squad. We hope it was sincere. We also needed to prepare a video about our squad. I came up with a great idea — we took photos. Now all that’s left is to edit it, and I’m working on that.

After dinner, we made a collective decision to go to the store and take a walk. Not far from the camp, there are two playgrounds — a sports one and a children’s one — where we wanted to stay a little longer. It was fun! Until we suddenly realised that Elena was missing. Panic ensued!!!! But Misha spotted her sitting on a bench a little further away, next to some Turkish grandfather, watching us. (Sigh of relief!)

Misha learned a lesson about money planning: you need to be prepared for purchases — or better yet, buy several pairs at once. The earphones he bought at the supermarket didn’t last him very long.

Dasha didn’t feed the little dog near the store this time — maybe that’s what made her start thinking about the meaning of life?! For the rest of the evening, she was sad and thoughtful.

And how was your day?
