Imagine: your child has traveled without you for the first time. For four days. To an unfamiliar city. But under the wing of an experienced mentor. And within the very first day, together with the team, they are editing a video and reflecting on trade relations with China on the banks of the Irtysh River. This is not a fantasy. This is our summer expedition to Tobolsk.
The participants didn’t just “go to a museum and a playground.” They lived a day that included:
-
The excitement of their first independent journey,
-
The thrill of filming and editing video,
-
Living history that you can touch,
-
Running around, laughter, getting to know the city and each other,
-
And the main rule they came up with themselves: “We do everything together.”
Personal diaries also made their appearance. Here is what Alexander writes:
“I will talk about trade relations with China. The Irtysh River originates in China — it was convenient for the Chinese to transport goods by ship: silk, vases, and most importantly — tea. Tea was the most popular among Russians. That’s why tea became the most consumed beverage in Russia. In return, we sold them furs. I know that even now we have good relations with China!”
This is how, in just one day, the Irtysh turns into a trade route, and international relations become not a textbook paragraph, but a personal thought written down on paper.
There are still three more days ahead. That means new discoveries, new friendships, and new lines in the diaries. Want to follow the expedition and one day find yourself in one just like it?
