Programme Overview

Day 1 — Arrival in Kaliningrad Region

  • Meeting with a guide at the airport.

  • Introduction to Kaliningrad (6 hours)

A sightseeing tour will introduce students to the amazing city of Kaliningrad, shrouded in secrets and legends. This is a city of two names — old Königsberg and one of Russia’s youngest cities, Kaliningrad. Truly a Russian corner with a European atmosphere of hospitality. Participants will see the ancient architecture of Königsberg, the 14th-century Cathedral, German villas of Amalienau, cobblestone streets, and defensive gates of Königsberg. They will stroll through the Fishing Village and take photos with the Homlin gnomes.

  • Climb aboard the research vessel Vityaz — the largest research ship in the world, which made an outstanding contribution to the study of the World Ocean. Here, you will learn about the most significant events in the ship’s history and the people who sailed the seas on board.

  • Lunch at a café.

  • Transfer to the hotel, check-in, free time.

Optional: Museum of the World Ocean with guided tour — 500 RUB/person.

  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 — Breakfast at the hotel

  • Trip to the Resort Towns of Svetlogorsk and Yantarny (8 hours)

Participants will have a unique opportunity to visit the world’s amber capital. The village of Yantarny is home to 90% of the world’s amber reserves — just imagine! We will head there with our guide. At the manufactory, you will learn how to tell real amber from a fake and see the processing of the “sun stone.” We will stroll through the “City of Masters,” walk along the Becker Park alley to the wide white-sand beach — listed among the cleanest in the world — and search for pieces of amber.

  • Then we will head to the neighbouring town, where beautiful old German villas amaze visitors, and the scent of pine and sea fills you with energy. Over a hundred years ago, wealthy tourists already vacationed here. The guide will reveal the reasons for the popularity of the Rauschen-Svetlogorsk resort and show you the Astrologer’s House, the Frog Princess, and the sundial.

  • Lunch at a café.

  • Return to the hotel, free time.

Optional: Amber jewellery-making workshop (bracelet) as a souvenir — 500 RUB/person.

Optional on the way back: dinner at Nesselbeck Castle with a horse-knight show — from 2,500 RUB/person.

  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3 — Breakfast at the hotel

  • Excursion to a Knight’s Castle and the City of Cats (6 hours)

With our guide, we will head to the former royal resort of Cranz (now Zelenogradsk). From the very first moment, Zelenogradsk will immerse you in the enchanting atmosphere of a European town. Its European past is everywhere: cosy cafés, the architecture of Kurortny Prospekt, and beautifully designed shop windows. On every corner, you’ll meet a charming cat — because Zelenogradsk is a city of cats! There’s even a traffic light for cats and a “Cat Chef.” The city looks like it’s come straight from a postcard — all decorated and illuminated!

  • Transfer to Schaaken Castle, founded in 1270 on the site of a Prussian fortress. Students will walk through the castle dungeons, visit the Museum of Inquisition, and see siege weapons.

  • Lunch at the castle tavern, where the hostess will treat you to delicious local dishes.

  • Return to the hotel, free time.

  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 4 — Breakfast at the hotel

  • Free day for exploring Kaliningrad on your own.

Optional excursion: “Old German School Waldwinkel” — from 1,500 RUB/person.

Like a time machine, students will be transported back a hundred years. We will visit the old German Waldwinkel School and learn how children studied in East Prussia. Participants will sit at recreated pre-war desks, discover how many students were in a class, how lessons were conducted, and that the highest grade for a student was actually “1” (the best). Slate boards and slate pencils from the 1930s can be touched by anyone. In the museum stands, students will see original notebooks and schoolbags, textbooks with puzzles about Queen Louise. In the second museum hall, they will learn about the school’s post-war history and the lives of the first settlers.

  • Lunch at a café.

  • Return to the hotel, free time.

  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 — Breakfast at the hotel

  • “Peter the Great – 350 Years. Excursion to Baltiysk, the Western Maritime Gateway” (6 hours)

During the excursion to the formerly closed city of Baltiysk — our outpost on the Baltic — you will learn how many times Peter the Great visited this land, what crafts he learned here, and what contribution he made to the creation and development of the Baltic Fleet. You will see the active lighthouse, St. George Naval Cathedral, and Pillaul Fortress — the very fortress that served as a model for the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg. And of course, while strolling along the pier by the sea, you will marvel at the beauty of passing ships.

  • Lunch at a café.

  • Return to the hotel, free time.

  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6 — Breakfast at the hotel

  • The Region’s Calling Card — Curonian Spit National Park (7 hours)

It’s impossible to come to Kaliningrad and not visit the Curonian Spit. This narrow strip of land was created by the power of winds and waves of the Baltic Sea. Participants will learn the legends of the Dancing Forest, see the highest sand dune, and discover the history of the local gliding school. The unique feature of this national park is that it is the largest sand spit in the world. That’s why you absolutely must come here to enjoy the beauty of nature.

  • Lunch at a café.

Optional: Visit to the Fringilla Ornithological Station — 350 RUB/person.

  • Return to the hotel, free time.

  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 7 — Breakfast at the hotel

  • Check-out by 12:00. Departure for the excursion.

Immersive Fort Excursion! (5 hours)

Students will go in search of adventure behind the impregnable walls of one of the forts — a growing attraction and a monument to military architecture from the late 19th century. The fort was practically undamaged during WWII and has been preserved in its original state. During the excursion, historical characters will “come to life.”

  • Lunch at a café.

  • Free time at a supermarket.

  • End of the programme at the airport, two hours before departure.
